Meet Our Founder
Payton Calder
Payton grew up in a small town in the very rural upper peninsula of Michigan and is a proud member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. From her early days of dancing, she found herself drawn to teaching dance classes at just 14 years old, sparking a lifelong passion for movement.
After graduating from Sault Area High School, Payton pursued her education at Michigan State University, where she excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian of the Honors College in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology, complemented by a minor in Leadership of Organizations. During her time at MSU, Payton immersed herself in research, particularly exploring the connection between hormone profiles and eating behaviors, while also serving as a teaching assistant in microbiology.
Payton credits much of her academic success to her ability to de-stress through physical activity, a coping mechanism she leaned on during challenging times. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced gyms to close, Payton responded by offering free Zumba classes to MSU students, aiming to provide a sense of community and wellness during uncertain times.
Following graduation, Payton found fulfillment working in an MSU research clinic, providing ABA therapy to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Despite the rewarding nature of her work, Payton felt a calling to expand her impact beyond the clinic walls.
In 2023, Payton made the leap to Los Angeles, California, where she completed certification as a personal trainer. Drawing on her background in psychology and her passion for fitness, she founded PAC Mindful Movement, a venture dedicated to creating evidence-based programs tailored to individual needs. Beyond her training sessions, Payton remains committed to staying informed about the latest developments in neuroscience and biology, ensuring her programs remain relevant and effective.
Throughout her journey, Payton's commitment to empowering others through movement shines brightly, embodying a spirit of compassion, dedication, and continuous learning.
